Week of July 24, 2006 - IDRS Conference, Ball State University, Muncie, IN

Barrick Stees performs in a joint program with oboist Cynthia Watson. Program features Akron area composers Margi Griebling-Haigh's "Trocadillos" and Nikola Resanovic's Sonata for Bassoon and Piano. Stees will also perform Stanley Weiner's "Suite for Bassoon and Piano" with pianist Randall Fusco on an evening concert at the Conference.

Week of June 12-16, 2006 - Chenango Summer Music Festival, Hamilton, NY

Barrick Stees will be appearing at the Chenango Summer Music Fest in Hamilton, NY during the week of June 12, performing the Poulenc Duo for Clarinet and Bassoon, the Devienne Quartet in C major, and Nostalgica by Miguel del Aguila for bassoon and string quartet.

An all-Brazilian music recital featuring Francisco Mignone's 16 Valsas, his Concertino, his Sextet for piano and wind quintet, Hector Villa-Lobos' Bachianas Brasilieras #6, and Guerra-Peixe's Duo for Bassoon and Clarinet.

October 2, 2005

Barrick Stees will perform with the Solaris Quintet on Sunday, October 2nd at 3:00pm in Guzzetta Hall at the University of Akron.  The program includes the Poulenc Sextuor, the Beethoven Quintet for Piano and Winds, the Rossini Quartet in F major and the Ars Nova Suite by Lee Scott Stevens.

July 31, 2005 at 3:00pm - Brevard Summer Music Camp

Barrick Stees will be premiering Daniel McCarthy's "Gothica" for Bassoon and Orchestra at the Brevard Music Center near Asheville, North Carolina on July 31, 2005 at 3:00pm. Daniel McCarthy teaches composition for the University of Akron and the Interlochen Center for the Arts.

Mr. Stees has previously recorded Mr. McCarthy's "All the West Was Moving" on his CD Nostalgica which you can purchase and/or learn more about here.

May 24-25, 2005 - Popkin/Glickman Bassoon Camp

Barrick Stees has been invited to participate as a guest lecturer for master class sessions at the upcoming annual Popkin/Glickman Bassoon Camp in the beautiful western mountains of North Carolina from May 24-25, 2005.

There are many guest speakers, and useful sessions covering topics such as reed making, bassoon repair, auditioning, technique, excerpts, and performance.
